How It Works

⚙️ Usage

A simple interface guides you through configuration:

  • load calibration file to remove fisheye effect (optional)
  • Select images to process
  • Threshold sample images to tell the software what colors to look for
  • Specify the number of stripes
  • Zero out twist calculations using fixed references like spreaders

🚀 Processing

Click "Start Sail Shape Analysis" and let the software work. A 2-hour sail at 1-second intervals produces about 7,000 photos, which takes around 30 minutes to process on a basic laptop.

📊 Calculations

For every stripe detected, Sailemetry calculates:

  • Twist - Measured in degrees
  • Max Depth - Percentage relative to sail length
  • Max Depth Location - Percentage from luff to leech
  • Entry Angle - Twist for the first 5% of the stripe
  • Exit Angle - Twist for the last 5% of the stripe

📁 Outputs

Sailemetry provides two outputs:

  • CSV file - Complete data for every successfully analyzed image
  • Annotated images - Copies of successful images with stripe data overlaid on the top left and white traces showing the stripe contours used for calculations

🔗 Integrations

The output CSV file works directly with:
