Hi, I'm Richard, the creator of Sailemetry.
Sailemetry grew out of the desire to better understand my sail shape. After my first moth world championship in 2021, I felt like I needed to take a more quantitative approach to understand my setup. While it's relatively simple to measure inputs to the sail shape (indicator lines, load cells, mast bend tests), what I really wanted was to measure the output (the sail shape itself).
I couldn't find anything which satisfied that need, so I decided to build it myself. Since then Sailemetry has grown from something just for me, to being adopted by my training partners, to the product you see today. In tandem, my moth worlds results have improved dramatically (top 10 finishes in 2022-2024 worlds).
